Lisbon impressions in a few words

Asked to describe Lisbon in a few words, these are the ones that come to mind:

  • cobblestone
  • architecture
  • color
  • sunny & warm
  • sidewalk and open air dining
  • narrow streets
  • excellent food

Exploring a new City for the first time, how does one prioritize all the possibilities?
Sometimes I seek out the museums
Sometimes I seek out all the top 10 tourist spots
Sometimes I attempt to get a "bigger picture" of the city

This time I decided I wanted an overview of the City of 2.3 million that has been in existence for 100s of years.  There are four very different lines of the hop on off tours. Only better would be traveling by private driver or a local who is a friend.

As I traversed the diverse regions I could not help make comparisons to the city I know best, San Diego. It seems the popular spots with the tourists are the equivalent of San Diego's Gaslamp, Little Italy and Old Town.  I can not help but think what one's view of San Diego if that is their experience.
Of if it is Sea World, the Zoo, Safari Park, and Lego Land.

So my aim was to get as broad as view as possible and explore as much as one can in a few days. I originally expected to visit a number of their outstanding museums.
